Position Title: Field Service Technician
Travel: 75% travel across all of WV, OH. Overnights based on
installations
The (Cryogenic) Field Service Technician is responsible for
installing and servicing on-site nitrogen generation plants and
bulk medical or industrial gas systems in a safe and operationally
effective manner, in accordance with all federal, state/provincial
and local codes, and Airgas policies
Installs and maintains nitrogen on-site generation equipment.
Installs cryogenic bulk installations both at Airgas facilities and
customer sites.
Repairs pressure reduction equipment associated with bulk delivery
systems.
Analyzes and makes general repairs to electrical systems associated
with N2 generation and cryogenic installations, including: motor
controls and relays, low pressure, high pressure and liquid level
alarm systems.
Installs decals and warning signs for the proper identification of
hazards, warnings, ownership, normal operational settings,
emergency contacts, etc.
Performs installation of piping systems in accordance with company
SOP's.
Performs Site Surveys to assure compliance with all federal,
state/provincial and local codes.
Assures security fencing is provided to protect installations from
tampering or unauthorized entry.
Performs periodic preventative maintenance tasks on N2 generation
equipment based on the PM schedule.
Performs annual inspections of all bulk installation sites to
assure their condition and correct operation.
Adheres to and ensures that safety policies and procedures are
followed.
Maintains an appropriate stock of recommended parts necessary to
repair typical installations within the assigned customer base.
Comply with all Company and industry safety policies and
procedures.
Obtain federal, state, and municipal/local required certifications
in order to perform job tasks.
Commission, install, and maintain all inert high pressure packaged
gas piping systems, mirco-bulk tanks, cryogenic dewer cylinders,
vaporizers and manifold equipment at customer and Airgas sites to
ensure the safe, effective and efficient delivery of our products
to the customers' point of use.
Perform sight surveys at prospective customer locations to
determine scope of job.
Perform cryogenic and high pressure piping systems inspections and
repairs of such equipment as per NFPA standards and manufacturers
recommended procedures to ensure operational safety and
efficiency.
Service, inspect, use, and maintain compressors, pumps and other
shop tools/equipment in good working condition and accordance with
manufacturers recommended procedures.
Identify and communicate service problems to manager for timely
repair response.
Maintain inventory of parts and required to perform service,
inspection and maintain of all equipment associated with the basic
function of this position.
Handle hazardous materials daily in a safe and approved manner.
Install piping and final line regulator systems for specialized
applications.
Install and set alarms for automatic emergency reserve and back up
system of gases.
Install manifolds and valves for use with high pressure gas
cylinders.
Secures the necessary documentation and approvals of work performed
(installations and/or removals)
Submit completed service orders, estimates and invoices to manager
in timely manner to facilitate customer billing.
Demonstrate proficient skills; upgrades knowledge and skills on an
on-going basis.
Maintain excellent customer service.
Flexible work schedule with ability to travel overnight.
Must attend company safety meetings.
Ensure proper and full time use of PPE.
Ensure any accident or injury is reported promptly to manager.
Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace.

with geographical requirement, training, evaluation, and
qualification in addition to peer review and management
approval.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
EDUCATION, KNOW-HOW, AND EXPERIENCE:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to
perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
College or technical degree preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of diagnostic and/or repair experience in some
or all of the following is required: cryogenics, high pressure
piping, brazing, programmable controls, and process
instrumentation.
Prior experience working with bulk gas delivery systems, pumps, or
mechanical machinery.
Experience in the HVAC or plumbing industry with hands on
welding/brazing skills a plus.
Able to understand piping and tank detail from manuals and
mechanical drawings and/or P&ID's.
Ability to understand and apply applicable standards for good
manufacturing practice set forth by the CGA, NFPA, NEC and other
professional/regulatory bodies.
Ability to use hand tools (electrical and manual) in a safe
manner.
Must have strong math skills; ability to calculate figures and
units of measure.
Skills to prioritize integrated service activities to maximize time
spent working on equipment at customer locations.
Must be customer service oriented and able to interact with both
internal and external customers in a professional manner.
Must have a valid driver's license and clean DMV report, may
require DOT physical.
Must be able to work flexible hours to meet customers' needs and
managements' expectations.
Must be willing to be away from home for up to 3-5 days at a time
for installs and certification schools.
Must be able to work occasional overtime to meet operational
deadlines.
Takes initiative to problem solve and troubleshoot with
results.
Must be able to operate a forklift and scissor lift, and be able to
maintain appropriate certifications.
Ability to routinely lift 25-50 lbs and occasionally lift 51-80 lbs
with material handling equipment.
Ability to work safely under pressure to meet deadlines.
Team player attitude with ability to work with a wide variety of
people with different personalities and backgrounds.
Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment.
Pre-employment and random drug testing and background screen
applies.
