Practice: was initially founded in 1987 to serve the needs of pets in Smithville, TN, and the surrounding area. Today, the clinic is a 4,000 sq ft facility with 4 exam rooms, a 2-table surgical suite, and several large treatment areas.Position Purpose:Join our team at Dekalb Animal Clinic and immerse yourself in our friendly culture and progressive medicine! We are so excited to welcome an additional Associate Veterinarian to our team!Our team takes pride in giving our clients and their pets the best care, at the most affordable prices. We are equipped with digital radiographs, ultrasound and high-speed dental equipment. We have expanded our surgical capabilities to incorporate orthopedic surgery, if that's of interest to you; training is provided for all surgery, dentals and ultrasound as needed.We couldn't operate in a fast-paced environment without the help of our wonderful support staff! This is an excellent opportunity an associate veterinarian with an interest in advanced diagnostics and surgery.About the area: Smithville is located in Middle Tennessee, about an hour east of Nashville, nestled directly between Murfreesboro and Cookeville. Hundreds of artists call DeKalb County their home, making farmers markets, art festivals, and blue grass music events one of a kind. We are located in a beautiful area with Center Hill Lake right outside of town. Here you can spend an entire day boating, fishing, and lounging while taking in stunning views. One of the oldest fairs in the country takes place every year in Smithville and is always one of the highly anticipated nights of the year. This area is one-of-a-kind and suits anyone!Essential Responsibilities:

  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
  • Maintain patients medical records.
  • Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.Requirements/Qualifications:
    • DVM/VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
    • Appropriate state licensure.
    • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
    • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.Benefits Offered:
